Matla Mamba borders the Marakele National Park for more than 27 kilometres, a a malaria-free region in the heart of the Bushveld.
Live the ambience of Africa on Matla Mamba's 8 000 hectares of unspoilt nature with its wide variety of game, including three of the Big Five, leopard and disease-free buffalo. The reserve derives its name from the Mamba and Matlabas Rivers meandering through it. During an open-vehicle game drive you will also spot a large variety of other game species, including sable, gemsbuck, eland, giraffe, hartebeest, buffalo, rhino, oryx, zebra, kudu, bushbuck, nyala and many more.
Our luxury lodge on the banks of the picturesque Mamba River offers you the enjoyment of the wildlife. Our lodge has six comfortable thatched en-suite chalets, a covered lapa area, central lodge area (with DStv) and an open boma, offering beautiful vistas of a large dam frequently visited by fish eagles and all species of Bushveld kingfishers, including the giant kingfisher. The outside braai boma, with a double storey bar and outside dining/conference area, offers excellent views over the dam and is a popular spot for sundowners. The six chalets are privately placed amongst indigenous trees in large green lawn gardens. Two of these chalets have three beds each and the other four sleep four people each (two beds downstairs and two beds upstairs). A sparkling pool completes the picture.
A 1.5km well-serviced gravel airstrip is on the reserve if you wish to fly in. This landing strip is suitable for small and medium sized aircraft.
This is the perfect destination for groups of friends, family get-togethers or a next bosberaad for up to 24 people. The lodge is fully equipped for self-catering. Meals for groups are however available on request and must be pre-arranged. The cherry on top of any visit is a sundowner river cruise in a canoe on the Mamba River.
